Hereford Week 4

Lubbock, Texas Temple

As you know. temple trip this week! Here I am with my district outside the Lubbock temple!

This week I hit a personal all time record of teaching 13 lessons to investigators with members present! The main problem: it seems like most of them are having a hard time getting to baptism. Silvia was out of town all week so we weren't able to meet with her. We met with Joe once. Some of his friends were over at his house when we taught him about the word of wisdom, and they kept asking us questions trying to trip us up about it. But we held up well. Joe actually received the lesson really well. He knows that coffee, smoking, and drinking are all things that are affecting him and he wants to stop. He is awesome. Unfortunately, he had to work this Sunday :(

Tina also had to work this Sunday :( Oh, we're not exactly sure why Saul is in jail or how long he'll be there, but this week we're going to try and go teach his mom. This week we were able to pick up 2 really cool new investigators this week thanks to Sergio once again! Sergio was cruising down the street in his mustang this week when he saw his friend Daniel walk out of the alley just as he was driving by. Sergio threw it in reverse, started talking, invited him over, and we came over half an hour later to teach him a lesson. During the lesson the spirit was so strong. Daniel felt it too and a few times during the lesson he couldn't help but start crying. It was amazing. The catch with Daniel is that he doesn't have a phone right now. Sunday we tried talking to the people he was living with, but they didn't know where he was, so we weren't able to get him to come to church. Our one investigator that made it to church this week is JT. He's another one of Sergio's friends that we started teaching this week. He has got a long way to go. He's been through it all. Seriously. But now he wants to come to God because he says that's the only way he can get his girlfriends back. Hey, whatever gets you there, right?

As to answering the question of why it's stressful to be in the same ward as sister missionaries: It seems like it's always a competition. And who do you think the ward is going to like better? Some dorky guys? Or the cute, innocent sisters? But, it's ok, because for Elder Pahulu and me it was just extra motivation to work even harder.

Who's number 1?!

Hereford Police Department Cow.
I told you, my goal is to get a picture by every cow in Hereford.  This could take a while!
Elder Walker and I got some shave ice this week. Now, remember... there is a huge difference between shaveD ice and shave ice. Shave ice is much smoother ice, ice cream in the middle and cream poured over the top. It's only about 1,000,000 times better than shaveD ice. And when Elder Walker told me he wanted to get some shave ice, I couldn't resist even though it was the coldest day of the entire week... delicious.

Sergio and me in a blurry picture. I think the blurriness actually adds to the comical look of the picture, so we just kept it.

No littering guys. Seriously.

Mmmmm. Healthy food!

One last picture... just for fun

I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
