Pecos week 12

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for: yes John got baptized on Saturday! Wahooo!!!!
Here we are watching the font get filled up.

Charlie, one of the young men that has been coming with us to teach John got to baptize him! That was super cool. John really looks up to him, and that was really cool for Charlie too (especially since we only have 2 active young men in the branch).

From left to right we have Nancy (John's mom), Clarisa and Lucky (his cousins) and Sarah (his sister). We put Sarah down on the program for saying the opening prayer but didn't tell her about it at all. She is really shy and didn't want to say it a week ago when we asked her, but when she saw her name on the program she got up and did a great job on the prayer. It was a superb service. Almost everyone from the branch showed up. We had a bunch of people bring treats too, which made refreshments afterwards all the better. While we were snacking on sweets afterwards, everyone was coming up and giving John hugs and kisses. It couldn't have been better.

Here is the Flores family in our branch. They're great.

This last transfer I started slowly reading the Old Testament because I want to finish all the standard works. It's the only one I've got left. The Book of Mormon is my favorite though, and so I themed my planner cover on the keystone of our religion.
This week while it was raining/snowing we helped one of the members put some plastic up on her "in progress" roof to stop the leaking.
As you know, Elder Palmer will be leaving tomorrow for Lubbock and Wednesday for home. These have been a quick 3 months here in Pecos with him. Now that's all that I have left in the mission. Crazy. Too fast. Saturday night President Heap calls for transfers and tells me, "Well Elder Moffitt, your companion is heading home. We thought of leaving you in Pecos all alone, but we figured we should send you some back up." It was pretty funny. My new companion's name is Elder Larkin. I don't know anything about him except that he's new and I will be training again.

This week we had 63 people at church! It was great to have such a big show for Elder Palmer's last Sunday as a missionary. The work is really moving forward here in Pecos, TX. Good work mom on going to share the gospel with your friend from work. I'll pray for all to go well. I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
