Elder Moffitt, Elder Pahulu, Samael and his family |
As you can guess by the pictures,
Samael got baptized on Saturday! Whoo! And he asked me to baptize him. That was
the first time I ever baptized anyone myself, and it was a very special
experience. Then on Sunday was the first time that his dad came to church for
years! He came to see little Samael get the Holy Ghost and he even stayed for
the second hour (we have Sunday school group in Spanish, pretty cool). And his
step-mom came too. They both enjoyed church it seemed. So hopefully they can
keep on coming.
Samelito's step mom, 2 older sisters and his dad are already baptized (although his dad was baptized in Honduras and his records have yet to be found). |
Here we are at Samaelito's house the
week before his baptism eating some fresas con crema. Que rico.

He had a funny request for his
baptism: nachos. He remembered how after his sisters were baptized they had a
little party afterward with food, so he wanted some nachos. So, after he got
baptized, Elder Pahulu and I went out to Walmart, bought some chips and
cheese, and went over to their house and had some nachos for lunch with them.
It was a fun day.
We found a Mexican buffet in town
for only 9 bucks. So we had to try it out one day for lunch. It was pretty
sweet. Plus, we talked to the waitress all in Spanish so extra bonus.
Not much to do here on p-days. So usually we go do something
with one of the members. Here we are out getting some deep fried ice cream.
That's the first time I ever tried any. Super good stuff.

Look who I found at zone conference
this week- Elder Pasquale. It's his last transfer, how sad.

Every missionary has to get a picture walking through a field, right? |

Elder Pahulu getting a haircut |
Elder Pahulu getting his hair cut by
one of our investigators, Elaina. Elaina and Isabella are sisters. This week we
were able to commit Elaina to baptism as well on the 15th. We had to move
Isabella's date back to the 15th because they weren't able to make it to church
yesterday. They told us beforehand they weren't going to make it, so it wasn't
as bad, but it's always a little disappointing. Definitely pray for them this
week. Thanks! They're
doing great though, and we usually meet with them about 3-4 times a week.
Our ward is pretty awesome. And as
you can see, we are splitting the ward with a pair of sister missionaries who
are tearing it up. Normally, I would feel prideful about how many lessons we're
able to have up here, but the sisters are just putting us to shame. That's the
only problem about splitting the ward.... competition.
Ana is doing good as well. She made
it out to church this last week, and her baptism is still set for the 8th, only
5 days away now. We have already taught her everything and just need to go over
the interview questions and have the interview. Pray that she will be able to
get a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith. She already feels this is the
right path for her, but a testimony of the Book of Mormon is certainly vital.
America prayed with us in the lesson again! But
that's about all the news for her. No new investigators this week. It was too
cold to find anyone outside, and for the most part we were decently occupied
with our current investigators and less active members. It's nice to have a
ward list longer than 10 names, like in Abilene. haha.
Well family, I love you guys! Thank
you for the package. Thank you for writing me so often. I am a very blessed
missionary. And I have been blessed with the best family ever. Thanks for your
letter too this week Court! And dad, I loved your letter you sent me this last
week. It meant so much to me. I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you
Meagan! I love you Courtney!
