Hereford week 1

Elder Moffitt and Elder Pahulu
Here I am saying goodbye to Elder Pahulu. It was a sad day for sure. We had lots of good times up in Pampa and did lots of good, bringing some souls unto Christ.
Spam, Teriyakia sushi
Elder Pahulu was always telling me about his "ancient Hawaiian secrets" and then on our last day together he made one of them for me, which was essentially teriyaki spam sushi. Super delicious.

Amanda (She already looks so much happier even after only talking with us for one week. Wow, the amazing effects of the gospel)

Isabella (finally got a picture with her!)

Lupita took us out to lunch the day I left, and then she wouldn't let me go without giving me a hug, so I had to give in. She was like "Aw, my Moffitt is leaving!"

Diego and Janie were in Amarillo (the big city where we had to go to get transferred) at exactly the time I was leaving. So, we met them in the Walmart parking lot on the way to the church to say goodbye.
Now to meet my new companion Elder Walker
Elder Walker is from Bountiful Utah. He is 20 years old and only has 2 transfers left on his mission including this one. He is a pretty goofy guy.  In fact, on the card ride back (he doesn't have a license either, so I am the designated driver) he warned me that he would be my weirdest companion. But, he said it was weird in a good way. So far, he seems to be fairly accurate with that first statement, and his weirdness seems to be in a good way thus far. Therefore, we are having a good time and getting along well. He is a very obedient missionary and loves the work of the Lord.
Here he is the first night I got here, chilling on the floor. Chill

Then a couple nights later we found a stray cat meandering around the premises of our apartment and Elder Walker had the heart to go and feed him. The only downside being that every consecutive night since then that cat has come meowing at our door. Dad, you would not like this cat. It's ok. As long as he's outside, it's all good.

Oh man. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty jealous right now of you being down in Florida. It was actually really warm this whole week, but this morning we woke up to freezing cold and snow on the ground. What's up with that? But, Hereford is a pretty cool place (pronounced Her-Ferd). A little bit about it: there are around 15,000 people here. So, a little bit smaller than Pampa, but around the same size. But no more splitting the ward with sisters. That will be nice. It was stressful.

Now for the work here in Hereford: In the last 2 transfers, they got 4 baptisms, just like us up in Pampa. But as of when I arrived, there were no real progressing investigators. That's the problem when you're doing so good.... you baptize all your investigators! Well, this week we picked up a couple of cool people. The first lady is named Tina. Elder Walker found her in the gas station the day I came in. In fact, they were filling up the car before coming out to pick me up. She walked up to him and asked him for a Mormon Bible. Turns out that her boyfriend is a member and has been telling her a little bit about the church. We had one lesson with her this week in the park. During the lesson she told us it was already true and accepted the challenge to be baptized within the first 10 minutes of us sitting down to talk. The only issue is that her boss has her on a tight schedule which she has to work Sundays. But, she had the faith to accept a baptismal date for the 3rd of May, believing that God would free up her schedule to make it happen.

The other really cool guy we met this week is named Saul. He is the cousin of Sergio, who is a 23 year old guy who was baptized about 6 months ago and is preparing to serve a mission. Sergio is like the coolest guy ever. He comes out with us every other night for like 2 hours. He has so much faith, and has really made a 180 degree turn in his life from before his baptism. Lots of his friends and family can see that change too and that is what got us into Saul's house this week. Saul is in a tough place right now with where he's at. But him seeing Sergio's example seemed to inspire him. Saul made it out to church and he absolutely loved it. He was smiling the whole time. Never think anyone isn't ready for the Gospel my friends. Everyone deserves that opportunity to hear about it, because you never know who it's going to effect.

Every week we do a couple hours of service down at the Senior citizens center serving food, and I was able to put my Pokémon apron to good work. Everybody loved it (even though half of the old people didn't know what it was)! Legit!

I hope you enjoyed my fantastic pictures this week. I don't know if I look tan at all, but we did walk around for many hours this week, so hopefully I look a little darker. Enjoy your chilaxin' in the keys! I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
