Pecos week 1

It was a a lot sadder to leave Abilene and Elder Cruz than I thought it would be. We definitely did have some good times together. It has been a super huge drought over in Abilene, but the day I left it was pouring rain. Of course it would start raining on transfer day. So here we are in the bike trailer getting our last picture together.

I decided I had better use the silly string which I hadn't even touched yet. I slyly pulled out my camera and silly string at an odd angle behind  Cruz and he started turning around asking me "Hey, what are you doing back there?" Then I unleashed just a little squirt at him, and I don't think he had ever seen silly string before. He was super surprised. The picture is a little blurry, but his face was super priceless.

Here are my last 2 goodbyes in Abilene. I said goodbye to Jenine (She is Kayla's aunt. Kayla was going to be there too for me to say goodbye, but they couldn't make it. At least I got to see her my last Sunday there though) and then the kids, Jackie, Nally and Brookly. Brooklyn didn't want to be in the picture, but guess who got caught in the mirror? When I saw that I thought it was super funny.

The last will be first and the first will be last. How fitting that my last goodbye was to my first baptism, Nadia.

Then it was raining my first 3 days here in Pecos, which apparently it never does either. Oh, we're a bike area over here too, so that was fun. I actually love bike areas though. Artesia was a blast being on a bike, so I am looking forward to it. We have lots more opportunities to talk to people always being outside on bikes. Pecos is around 10,000 people I think. This last Sunday we had 57 people at church in the smallest church building I have attended on my mission. The branch is great. Our branch president is super nice, and he is like the perfect Texan, so I love it.
Pecos is probably the most Texan town I have been in so far. Everything here is the epitome of Texas. Just check out these giant spurs outside someone's house.
Elder Moffitt and Elder Palmer
And now I will introduce you to my new companion, Elder Palmer. He came out at the same time as Elders King, Pahulu and Banks, and was actually MTC companions with Elder Banks. He is 20 years old and is from Lehi, Utah. We are having a good time so far. I guess you could use the word "chill" to describe him pretty well. Basically, I am excited to be here in Pecos.
