Pecos week 16

We had quite a enjoyable week. Elder Larkin has been a little sick these last few days, but nothing to impede us from going out and working. Yesterday at church we had a whopping 77 people. A few people came down from the district because the branch presidency was re-done. I loved our old one, and I love the new one too. It's going to be great. It's hard not to like the people in Pecos (that's been pretty true about most of the places I've been).
Texans really like their mailboxes!!!
We asked Hayden's father in law, who is working on getting back into church, to give us a ride to church on Sunday. He saw right through our scheme to get him to church. But he gave us a ride and stayed all 3 hours anyway. Hayden didn't come though.

We have been making some good progress once again with Sam, Cesar's son, this week. He starting reading the Book of Mormon. We had a couple lessons, and he said he would like to come to seminary in the mornings. Last night we taught him the word of wisdom and afterwards asked him what he thought of it. He said, "well, I guess that means I have to stop drinking sweet tea." That was legit. I wasn't even sure what we would be committing him to do, since he's 15, but he took all the initiative himself.

We taught Gilberto and Petra a few times this week. It seems that there progress has slowed down a bit. Gilberto is still reading the Book of Mormon, but we don't think he fully understands the significance of it being true. We tried to explain it very clearly to them again this week (basically telling them that if it is true that means we are the only true church and all the other ones don't have all the truth). Pray that he not only reads it, but that they both pray about it as well.

We've had some pretty fun service recently. We assembled a swing set for a kind of less active family in the branch. Look pretty good?

I am proud of myself for doing some more cooking. Fairly simple, but I made arroz con leche. Quite delicious if I do say so myself.

This is what happens when studies go too long in the morning.

Last week for district conference Elders Banegas and Schofield slept over at our place so they didn't have to drive all the way back to Van Horn late at night. It was a good time.

Here's our sand hill selfie from last week.

We had a LOT of fun last week!

I don't have much to say this week, but I sent lots of pictures, so I hope that will suffice.

I want ya'll to know that I am working hard on becoming more and more converted to the gospel every week.I love being a missionary. I love all the commandments God has given us. I love the happiness that comes to my life as I live the principles taught by the prophets. And don't forget... I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
