Yesterday was probably THE best p-day out on the mission so far. This last
Saturday and Sunday we had district conference for the Fort Stockton District.
President Heap came down for it and we got to talk to him some more. Always a great
time talking to president Heap. Anyway, we also asked him if we could go out to
the Monahans Sand Dunes as a district of us 8 missionaries. He said yes.
Sooooooo much fun. I have lots of pictures coming your way. We decided to wear
our suits there for a cool pic, but then we changed into our normal clothes
right after.
We
waxed the boards up beforehand to ensure optimum speed down the dunes. As you
can see, they got pretty steep in some parts, making it all the more fun to
slide down, play football on the side of, and jump off.
There
were some cool little sleds that we rented out for a few bucks to go sliding
down the hills. It was great. We did tons of races and I got a few videos too.
I have never seen anything like it in my life. I told everyone that the only
sand we have in Virginia is at the beach. That may be another reason why I
loved it. It reminded me of the beach. We played a bunch of football out on the
sand too. I think besides last year's turkey bowl it was the only time I have
played football on my mission.
Seriously,
a whole day later I can't express how awesome it was at the sand dunes.
Anyway,
on to a little bit more of the week. As earlier stated we had district
conference this week. We also had a zone conference with all the missionaries
in the Odessa Midland area of Texas. There are a lot of us. I just love hearing
from President Heap. He is inspiring, but what I love more is how loving he is.
It's great. At one point during the closing song of district conference I made
eye contact with him up on the stand and he winked at me. It was pretty funny.
We
are still teaching Larry and Marisa, Gilberto and Petra, Hayden and his family,
and Jessica and Danny. Marisa and Larry were at church again. Hayden and his
family started reading a little bit from the Book of Mormon together this week.
With district conference over in Monahans for church on Sunday I didn't keep
track of how many people were there, but it was more difficult for some of our
members to make the drive out there as well.
Thanks
for the valentines package! It was great! I shared some of your goodies with
the other elders and they said they loved those rolo pretzel treats :)
That's about it for me this week. I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you
Meagan! I love you Courtney!
