Good morning family! I love you! Are
you excited yet? A week and a half left! I got some good pictures this week, so
get excited. We had a big dust storm, but apparently there is a lot less dust
than usual this year due to all the rain we have had.
Did you know that Pecos is home to the world's
first rodeo? I have been wanting to get a picture next to this sign since my
first week here, and I finally got it.
We had 3 investigators at church
this week. Jessica, Marissa and Ruben. Jessica and Danny are doing great.
Jessica's due date for her baby is today! We shall see when she has him. We
talked to them about the temple this week, and they are really looking forward
to getting sealed together one day. We found a member in Monohans who works for
CPS, so hopefully she can help to get things moving along helping with Danny's
divorce!
Wow. Here's a fun experience. As I
was e-mailing here at the library the librarian came over and asked me if I
would read to a bunch of little 1st graders. So I just paused my e-mails and
read to everyone. We got everyone up and jumping around like the people in the
book were doing. It was lots of fun. Now they're all walking out waving bye to
me. So cute.
Ruben has been doing well this week. We were really pushing to get him baptized next week on the 18th. However, he isn't quite ready yet.
We baked a cake from scratch. It was
a "tres leaches" cake. A Mexican classic. We ended up eating it at
district meeting and everyone approved.
At first the sisters couldn't believe
that we actually made it ourselves, so we had to show them the pictures. It was
approved by everyone.
Here we are with Jessica and Danny.
Braden and Alizabeth are Danny's kids, and Ellie (the youngest) is Jessica's.

We have also been pushing for
Gilberto and Petra to make it to baptism this next weekend. They believe that
the Book of Mormon is true. They believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet. They
believe that the church has been restored through him. But they are just scared
of committing. They don't really like that the church is in English, but I
think when you're 80+ years old it gets harder to make a life change. They were
supposed to come to church again this week, but didn't make it.
There were 65 people at church this
week. Elder Larkin and I are working hard and having fun. On a last note: there
was a baptism is the Pecos branch this week. Her name is Anissa, and she is a
13 year old girl. The last week Elder Palmer was here we saw on the records
that she wasn't a member, but we thought that she definitely was, her family
being active and everything. We talked to the family and it turned out when she
was baptized in Houston they never made a record for her. After a couple months
of trying to find witnesses and papers and everything it was finally decided to
just re-baptize her, so that was pretty cool. I love you mom! I love you dad! I
love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
