Pampa week 10

Texas does have amazing sunsets, so I had to get another one this week.

HOLA FAMILIA!!! Transfer week is in 2 weeks, so general conference is the last day of the transfer. We get to go to the church building to watch it.
Elder Moffitt and district leader, Elder Green

This week we did exchanges with our district leader, Elder Green. So he came here with me, while Elder Pahulu went out to Borger With Elder Jessop (Elder Green's companion). We were doing a zone fast the day of transfers for all the investigators up here in the Panhandle zone. That evening at 5:30 a huge dust storm rolled in and we got an emergency warning text from the news telling everyone to head indoors. We did of course, and we were advised to not go out unless we had a set appointment so we could just walk right into the house and not be outside. Well, Isabella randomly texted us and told us to come over. Right before we left the house Elder Green prayed for a miracle to happen for Isabella. Then when we got over there she told us how she quit her job at Sonic because they wouldn't let her have Sundays off and she really wanted to come to church and be baptized. Wow! Miracles indeed! Unfortunately when Sunday rolled around, she got called in last minute to work for someone who was sick. So she wasn't able to make it out to church. But she was very upset about it and said she is definitely coming next week.

It seems like every week now we get an opportunity to do service. I like it. This week Yoana and Ana had to bulldoze one of the trailers they had because it was super old and falling down. So we helped them to throw away all of the pieces. Then afterwards, they rewarded us with some popsicles and jello. It was quite fun working alongside them with their old lady Mexican friends spouting Spanish at us. Funny moment: one of the ladies thought that we didn't speak Spanish at first so she told Ana that we were good looking. Then of course we started talking Spanish back to her and she just started laughing. Too funny.

As for Diego and Janie, we were finally able to get into contact again with them on Friday. They both told us about their strong desire to still be baptized and when we asked they said they would love to be baptized this coming Saturday, the 29th of March. Diego has stopped drinking coffee, tea, all energy drinks, and the other day when he had a headache he wouldn't even take any advil or anything. He wants to seriously obey the Word of Wisdom. As of Friday, Janie hasn't smoked a cigarette. She was having a tough time on Sunday, but she really really wants to be baptized and knows she has to quit so she can make it there. She will definitely need all the prayers she can get this week to make it through. Well, my testimony of fasting has grown a lot this week. Sometimes, when we are fasting we do not receive the answer we expect, just like when we pray. But God sees our devotion and desire when we fast and He wants to reward us.

The sisters had a baptism this week. His name is Johnathan. He's the one on the left with the glasses. And that's his brother in the baptismal suit on the right who baptized him. It was a good service. Tons of people from the ward showed up.

There were more than 100 people at church again on Sunday. And Saturday, we got Samaelito to go to the pinewood derby down in Amarillo, about an hour away. He has been working hard on his car for the last couple weeks. Since he's only 9, we compared getting him to the pinewood derby  like getting him to the temple. haha
Elder Moffitt making spam mac and cheese!

And here I am concocting one of my new favorite meals... spam mac and cheese!

And yes, Elder Pahulu got me into spam. He loves it. One time he made little sushi wraps with the rice and seaweed, but just put Spam in for the meat. He let me try one and they were super good!

As for our other investigators this week: We didn't get to see Ernesto, Misty and Sebastian. We saw Marcos once, and Yoana came out with us and was able to share the testimony of her conversion. It was very neat to see that. Oh, and if you didn't guess from what I said before, Diego and Janie were able to make it to church on Sunday. We also had their baptismal interviews. They both passed, so now it's just up to them to stay strong this last week before their baptism.

We were able to pick up a really sweet new investigator this week. Her name is Wanza. She was a church media referral that had asked for a Bible. We have been trying to get into contact with her for almost a month now, and this week we were finally able to have a lesson with her. Turns out she already had like 5 Bibles in her house, so we just taught her about the restoration. Then 2 days later about the Plan of Salvation. She really like both lessons and wanted to come to church. However, her water got turned off Sunday morning and she wasn't able to make it. But we're seeing her tonight and she still wants to come next week too.

We found this random tractor by the church, and we had a member with us, so we had him take a picture... just for fun.

Well, that's about it for me this week. Not too many pictures, but lots of detailed stories I hope. And Courtney, don't forget to tell me what you would like for your birthday! I love you mom! I love you Dad! I love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
