pecos week 7

Here's our canned food drive this week. We wrapped it up with some of the branch and brought it to some members in need.

Merry Christmas! I did get the family Christmas card. I figured out which picture you used for me in liked half a second. The one that I was up in Carlsbad just for the day (ironically on the side of the PECOS river). I liked all the pictures in the e-mail this week.

We got a full 10 hours of service this week. From canned food drive to helping fix a member's roof. We got a little experience in tarring and shingling. Man, tar is super sticky and impossible to get off when it's cold. Imagine how it must be when it is burning hot. The things you get to thinking about doing random service.
Anyway, I'll tell you about one more family we're working with right now. They are a part member family. Nancy (the mom) and Sarah and both members as of about 2 years ago. They're not active though, and we've been working really hard at teaching them consistently and with member support as well. We are also working on getting John, Nancy's 9 year old son baptized. First things first, they've got to come to church. They haven' been since I have been here. Nancy's niece, Clarisa, is also living there right now and is not a member. Lots of potential. Little action on their part. Pray for them to DO something.

I thought you might find it interesting to find where all my past companions are currently serving: Cruz-Garcia: Abilene; Banks: Big Lake; King: still in Carlsbad; Powell: Odessa; Pahulu: Lubbock and is now a district leader. From what I have seen and heard he has changed a lot since a year ago. That's always good. I want to keep working hard at changing to become a better person before I come back.

Javier is still not back from Andrews. We're thinking he's probably just staying there for Christmas now. We taught Sam this week and did some good little object lessons to get him and his little brother Josh more involved. Sam will now be out of town for Christmas break. Jessica and Danny are doing great. Danny had this week off of work and was at church. He is now 12 days smoke free!!! To me, he is looking like a completely different person. Once you start living the commandments a new power and happiness comes into your life I am telling you. He is super pumped about it too.

We've got the Pecos water tower here and a view of the Pecos east side from the rooftop. 61 people at church yesterday.

Over at the park we found this little Alamo replica or something. Pretty cool!

I imagine ya'll are pretty excited for Christmas. So am I. Now I just need to start thinking of some good questions I can ask you back too! I love you mom! I love you dad! I love you Meagan! I love you Courtney!
